Welcome to the First Baptist Church of Elkton Preschool

Preschool News

The FBC Preschool  is now accepting registrations for the 2020-2021 school year and hopes to reopen in January 2021.

When the preschool has reopened, the following guidelines will be followed:

ARRIVAL

Adults who drop off and pick up children will do so at the ramp entrance. Covid-10 prohibits parents in the building beyond the entrance-way at this time. Parents must have masks on at drop-off and pick-up times.

If your child has any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, nausea, or new loss of taste or smell your child will not be admitted and should isolate at home.

The child’s temperature will be checked each day as he/she enters preschool with a touchless thermometer.

If the child has been within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes with anyone diagnosed with Covid-19 or suspected of having Covid-19 he/she will required to stay at home for 14 days from the time he/she had been exposed.

If a student or staff member has a confirmed case of Covid-19, the local health department will help determine if the school must close and the length of the closure.

MASK WEARING

All teachers will wear masks throughout the school day. As stated above, parents must have masks on at drop-off and pick-up times.

The use of face coverings for preschoolers is strongly recommended except at snack time and at outside playtime if social distancing is maintained.

HANDWASHING

When children arrive they will wash their hands. They will use soap and water for at least 20 seconds (singing the ABC Song can help them get to 20 seconds). They will also wash their hands before snack time, after being on the playground, and before leaving school for the day.  Hand sanitizer will also be available for adults.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Distancing guidelines apply both indoors and outdoors.

Since remaining at least 6 feet apart while doing table activities won’t be possible there will be see-through partitions at each table.

BECOMING ILL DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

Sick children will be separated from well children until they can be sent home. If a student becomes ill during the school day he/she will be seated near the craft room exit and the number on file will be called for someone to pick up the student as quickly as possible.

A child with confirmed Covid-19 or a Covid-19 like illness may return to school when he/she has met the CDC criteria:

At least 10 days have passed since symptom onset AND

At least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without use                       of fever reducing medication AND

                Other symptoms have improved

Close contacts of a person with Covid or Covid-like illness may not attend until 14 days after the date of their last exposure.

SANITIZING/DISINFECTING

All hard surfaces students touch will be wiped down with an approved solution before and after each use and throughout the day as students move from place to place. Toys will be sanitized at the end of each day.

Floors, windowsills, doorknobs, sink and commode will be cleaned and sanitized daily.

Dress-up clothes, doll clothes and blankets, stuffed animals, and pillows are not available for play at this time to prevent the spread of infection.

Contacting the Preschool

Please be aware that phone calls during the school day or parents wanting to talk to a teacher for miscellaneous reasons, takes the teacher away from the children and their activities. We ask that you call during school hours only if absolutely necessary or during the time that our director is on the premises. Our Director is at the preschool Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:15 PM. You may call the director anytime during the day for any reason. She will be happy to answer any questions you may have. If there are any questions relating to your child that she cannot answer, the director will have one of your child’s teachers call you back as soon as possible. If you call the preschool during school hours and the director is not available to take your call, the teachers may not be able to answer the phone. However, the answering machine is in the classroom and the teachers will usually be aware that you have called. Someone will return your call as soon as the opportunity arises

Please feel free to call to check on your child at any time. We just ask that if it’s a question that can wait, that we may call you back. *If there is an emergency, you can hang up and try calling again. If there is still no answer, you may try the church office at (410)398-2915 (church office hours are 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM).
