Greetings,
The cycle of life moves on here in Malawi. As you all in the northern hemisphere
go towards colder months (though not so cool yet from what I hear) weather hear
is heating up. Since seminary is over, the nature of my daily activities is
changing as well.
Seminary Finishes
Two weeks ago, our third term of seminary was finished. Most of the first year
students finished well; they worked hard down the stretch in this term. They
read ten chapters on Baptist Beliefs and Practices in the 15 days of class.
Whew! They worked nearly as hard in Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke).
They now have a break from classes until January.
Kasiya Churches
Work also continues to progress in the Kasiya Zone. Last month the revival/Jesus
Film show went well- several dozen people expressed an interest in following
Jesus as their Savior and Lord. We also Baptized 11 people who had earlier
received Christ. I was asked to preach 6 times, which needless to say left me
very tired for the next week's lectures. God was faithful, and they went well
enough. You'll see three pictures attached from that weekend: two of a man being
baptized, and one of the pastor and others, including the baptizees.
Several of the churches are in the process of building their own buildings.
Attached are two pictures of the partially-completed building at Nsaru. During
the next couple of weeks or so, I'll be trying to encourage them to complete the
work before the rains begin falling.
One of the other things we'll be doing is trying to continue developing
leadership skills in the lives of the men leading these young churches, and
perhaps plant one more on the edge of where we are currently working.
As always, thanks for you prayers. Andrew Rittenhouse
